As we embark upon this new year, we recognize that many of you are heading into another busy season.
To show up at your best for others, it’s more critical than ever that you take good care of yourself. To be a healthy leader, you must first be a healthy human. Yet, that idea could seem like a far-off dream, if you’re already overwhelmed by all that’s on your plate.
Do you already feel like you can’t keep up with everything on your list, no matter how hard you try? How are you supposed to focus on your most important priorities when you’re constantly getting pinged with requests, questions, and noise from all sidesal¦when your to-do list keeps growing longer and longeral¦when you’re constantly getting distracted by all the things?
Thanks to technology, our brains have been trained to seek out distractions after just a few minutes (some studies show as little as 5 minutes!!). Wow!!!
Distractions come with a high cost. Not only are they stressful and exhausting to deal with, but the more distracted you get, the shorter your attention span gets! This means you become less and less productive because you simply can’t focus in a meaningful way.
Unfortunately, many of us still try to keep up with the impossible number of requests and distractions that come our way. We may buy into ideas that we really can do it all, that multi-tasking is something to aspire to, and that we need to take care of everyone and everything, all the time. Then, we wonder why we end up feeling burned out, overwhelmed, and unfulfilled.
Constantly dealing with distractions is not sustainable. It’s not healthy. It simply doesn’t work. It gets in the way of your success as a leader and a human being.
We want more for you.
We want to help you sharpen your focus, so you can invest your time and energy in the things that matter most. We want you to get more done in less time, so you can spend more time taking care of YOU.
Remember, your time and energy are precious resources. When you invest them in the people and things that matter most, you’ll elevate your performance and feel better in the process.
See you in the DOP,
